Essen 🇩🇪

Essen is the central and, after Dortmund, second-largest city of the Ruhr, the largest urban area in Germany. Its population makes it the fourth-largest city of North Rhine-Westphalia after Cologne, Düsseldorf and Dortmund, as well as the ninth-largest city of Germany. Essen lies in the larger Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region and is part of the cultural area of Rhineland. Because of its central location in the Ruhr, Essen is often regarded as the Ruhr's "secret capital".

The story

A cold, cold walk in Essen towards Zeche Zollverein, a former coal mine.

München 🇩🇪

Munich is the capital and most populous city of the Free State of Bavaria. It is the third-largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg, and thus the largest which does not constitute its own state, as well as the 11th-largest city in the European Union. The city's metropolitan region is home to about six million people.

The story

The first full day in Munich: exploring the city with the stealthy Ricoh in color, and in the darkness the good ol’ Flek excels in black and white.

The story

Testing my “new” lens, the Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f/2.8, according to its serial number, built somewhere between 1961 and 1964. Shot wide open for the most vintage look possible and in black and white, where the lens excels.
