Venezia 🇮🇹

Venice is a city in northeastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto region. It is built on a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. The islands are in the shallow Venetian Lagoon, an enclosed bay lying between the mouths of the Po and the Piave rivers.

Poveglia 🇮🇹

Poveglia Island is a small dot of land in the Venice Lagoon off the eastern coast of Northern Italy. At times, it was used as a safe haven, military checkpoint, and an institution for people with mental illness. However, it is most well-known for its macabre use during the bubonic plague epidemic when victims were quarantined and burned on the grounds. Today, Poveglia maintains a frightening reputation, and locals believe this “island of ghosts” is riddled with unhealthy spirits due to its dark history.

Fosse Dionne, Tonnerre 🇫🇷

The Fosse Dionne is a karst spring, in Tonnerre in the Yonne department of France. It is fed by the rainwater on the surrounding hills as well by at least one subterranean river. The Fosse Dionne is remarkable because of its average daily outflow of 311 litres per second. It is likely that the spring was the reason for the siting of the village. An elaborate lavoir was built around the spring in the 18th century.
